Boise Valley Riders :
  • Q: Who started the Boise Valley Riders?
A: Preston Parkinson in November of 2002. For a brief history, refer to the history page.
  • Q: I have a business and/or services that I would like to link to or advertise with the BVR. Can I?
A: The BVR does not link to businesses just to have links on a page. Links are a business relationship. The BVR will only link to businesses that are willing to link exchange, provide services for and/or provide discounts for the BVR. If you're still interested then we would love to. Please contact us using the Contact Us form.
  • Q: No rules, no committments, I don't like not knowing who I'm gonna see. Can't we be more structured?
A: Man, if you pressure us, you just drive us away. We'll commit when we're ready, okay? Besides, what's so great about being structured? It ruins all the romance, the challenge, the possibilities, the right to explore. Carpe diem, ya know? Maybe we're jaded, but we've seen all these other clubs leap headlong into dues, committments, thinking their club is the best, exactly what they've been dreaming of all their lives, that everything is perfect and hunky-dory and the next thing you know some vanilla copycat startup is kicking their butt, the Board is holding emergency meetings blathering sweatily about "a new direction" and "getting back to basics." No thanks, man. We like our freedom.
  • Q: I don't have a bike, but can I still join?
A: I frankly don't understand this question. We're a riding club, what are you gonna do, cheer for us? Surprisingly, this is one of the most common questions. I can't blame that, I hang out with bikers and they are damn cool! Oh yeah, um no.
  • Q: Are there any single guys that would like a woman to go riding with them?
A: Wow, now that's what every guy needs, a direct gal. Another very common question. There are a number of single BVR members that would love to take a gal for a ride. To much disappointment for those singles however, we're not a dating service. That being said, BVR is open to friends and family, find a sponsor and attend our next event and let your charm take over.
  • Q: I have questions about an upcoming event, how do I find out more?
A: Please navigate the website to find details on events. The Planning section is the first place to start. If you're still looking for more then use the Contact Us form to post a question or if you're a BVR Core subscriber post a question in the BVR Online Forum or distribution lists. As a last resort, contact a
  • Q: Where and how does the BVR advertise?
A: How did you find us? The BVR initially started out on the web and to this day the internet is our best advertising tool. BVR has also affiliated with SRY (Snake River Yamaha) we provied them a community for their owners. BVR is also a registered member of the Southwest Idaho Motorcycle Club of Clubs which puts us on every motorcycle club listing in the valley. The BVR advertises at almost every motorcycle dealer in the valley and numerous online stores and forums. Business bartering, they give us discounts we bring them business. Being involved in community and national fundraising events, word-of-mouth advertising has become what we really rely on now and accounts for the group doubling in size over one season.
  • Q: How can I contribute to the BVR Crew?
A: Contributions can come in many ways. Always have the positive energy that makes any group successful, always be willing to donate your time and if you can, monetary donations are really, really needed and are very, very much appreciated. Subscribing to BVR Core services is another method.
  • Q: I'm a new rider, can I still ride and if so what should I be aware of?
A: Yes you can ride, but if you're asking what you should be aware of then you shouldn't be riding just yet. Remember what you've learned, all those skills are important. Ride your bike and stay in your lane; never stop riding your bike. Review the Group Riding Rules and other resources before meeting up. However, don't be intimidated, if you have a question feel free to ask any member. There's no dumb questions, especially in regards to our safety.
  • Q: I'd like to bring my child, is that ok?
A: Of course it is don't be silly, just make sure you remember you have it. At the staging time of the event/run you're attending, please do notify the Ride Captain/s so that consideration of a minor is taken into account.
  • Q: Why are we called a riding club rather than a motorcycle club?
A: We allow you to talk to other riders outside our own club. Our club apparel is purchased not earned. We don't follow the strict rules and regulations that an organized motorcycle club expects. We have no mandatory meetings or attendance and no pledge period to join. We can go on and on, but the short of it is that we're a group of people that enjoys riding motorcycles, hence a "riding club".
  • Q: What does BVR stand for?
A: The B is for Boise, the V is for Valley and the R is for Retard. Boise Valley Riders, thanks for asking. If you haven't noticed, we're also a very loving group of sarcastic riders.
  • Q: It was mentioned that a run/event is a "ticket ride". What does that mean?
A: Many BVR rides are "ticket rides". Each participating member and guest may purchase a raffle ticket for $4.00, $2.00 goes to a BVR designated fund and the other $2.00 towards a "pot". At a designated time during the ride we draw tickets and the winner gets the "pot". It's a fun way to donate money with a chance to win gas money!
  • Q: What does Local 222 mean?
A: It's a metonym; a word that denotes one thing but refers to a related thing. 2 for the 2nd letter of the alphabet, B. 22 for the 22nd letter of the alphabet, V. 2 plus 2 is 4; 22 subtract 4 is 18 for the 18th letter of the alphabet, R; Local BVR.
  • Q: The BVR Colors, Black and Red, what do they mean?
A: Black represents the hardships that life brings due to the degradation of social norms and values on TV and the Red represents the desire to shed our clothes, sing and be merry. Black means Black and Red means Red, they just look good together.
