BVR STAR Private Courses

Please visit their website to learn more about STAR RIDER EDUCATION PROGRAMS.
BVR sets up private STAR courses annually. The number of private courses we put on depend on STAR scheduling and participation.
The Idaho STAR Program is incorporated within the Idaho Department of Education, and contracted out to Boise State University. The STAR Program is accredited by the National Association of State Motorcycle Safety Administrators (SMSA).
STAR stands for Skills Training Advantage for Riders, for we believe there are real advantages in being properly trained and prepared to ride. Over 92% of riders involved in crashes were self-taught, or taught by friends or family, so we feel the value of rider education and training in Idaho is very high. In fact, Idaho STAR training is associated with a 64% reduced crash risk.
While the Idaho STAR Program applies to any motorcyclist wanting to learn to ride or become more skilled, its specific aim is to reach younger first-time riders and those with little or no riding experience. Traffic crash studies show that the highest crash rates involve riders under the age of 24 and those over 40. To reduce these statistics, it is imperative that these youth and older riders learn to ride safely in a controlled environment before they swing a leg over their first, or next motorcycle.
Among the STAR courses are a Basics Course and an Advanced Course. BVR STAR private classes have not yet been scheduled for 2008 season. When they are scheduled, they will be available first to BVR Members, second to BVR Members families and third to BVR referrals. The Idaho STAR program puts on many public classes in several cities throughout the year. Please visit their website to learn more about them: http://idahostar.boisestate.edu.
