2006 Programs
The BVR Organization have partnered with Sunbridge Retirement & Rehabilitation of Nampa to put on the 2nd Annual Sunbridge BikeBQ, a BBQ/Bike event at their location with food and music for the whole family. This BBQ/Bike event is to create community fellowship and benefit the Sunbridge residents.
On July 1,2006 the parking lot at Sunbridge Retirement Community in Nampa Idaho was transformed into a stage for dining, music and of course motorcycles. Sue Horn of Sunbridge name this annual even a "Bike-B-Q". There were tables and chairs set up under canopies where the residents gathered to wait for the arrival of the "Crew".
On queue a parade of motorcycles rumbled down the street, presenting an entertaining parade of sights and sounds for residents, family and staff. With the procession completed and the bikes parked for viewing the Crew got busy helping with all of the activities. There was a photo backdrop set up with bikes and the American flag. Residents dressed up in biker gear and posed with crew members for pictures. These photos were then mounted in frames constructed and decorated by 'Miss Bobbie' and her preschool class. What a treasure these were for residents to take back to their rooms and be reminded of the fun. There was also music from a local band and crew members assisting residents in viewing all the bikes.
Before we fired up the grill to cook up dozens of hotdog and burgers we heard from a few speakers who reminded us of the holiday we were here to celebrate, Independence Day. Sue Horn welcomed everyone, Preston Preston described our club and recited the mission statement. This was followed by an incredible presentation by Wesley Steele, who talked about freedom, soldiers and the blessings we have to live in the United States of America.
Lunch was then expertly grilled by a few of our crew members and added to the salads and side dishes provided by the kitchen staff at Sunbridge. We also enjoyed a special treat, ice cream sandwiches. The community of Boise Valley Riders and the community of Sunbridge all called this a great day. We look forward to seeing them again next year! Please check back with us for information about next years event.

BVR presented the Inaugural Cruzin 4 Critters Run on August 19, 2006. Local motorcyclists came out and joined for a great ride, live music and prizes but more importantly a great cause, together raising $1,500 for our little critters at the Idaho Humane Society. The ride is sponsored by Idaho Humane Society and Burger & Brew on Fairview. All proceeds go to the Idaho Humane Society to help fund their many programs and services. This ongoing partnership between BVR and IHS will provide much needed capital to support their various programs and services.
The Idaho Humane Society was formed in Boise in the late 1890's and has been involved in pet adoptions, rescues, veterinary care and educational programs since. The Idaho Humane Society Animal Control Division provides ordinance enforcement services to the cities of Boise, Star and Eagle and the unincorporated areas of Ada County.

IHS operates the Rescue Ranch on a 23 acre site that provides rescue and rehabilitation services to farm animals in Ada County and Boise City and works with other jurisdictions as requested. Since April, 2004, IHS has rescued and rehabilitated over 200 horses and has investigated over 100 other reported cases of neglect or abuse. IHS also operates a non-profit veterinary hospital which cares for publicly owned pets as well as animals residing at the shelter. In 2005, IHS spayed/neutered over 7,500 dogs, cats and rabbits, thereby reducing the risk of pet overpopulation. In addition, the veterinary clinic provides dental care and orthopedic surgery services. The staff of six veterinarians treat over 15,000 animals each year.

The BVR Organization and Boise Blues Society have partnered to organize an annual event to provide the community, spectators and sponsors, with an enjoyable experience by bringing the Blues in all its forms to fans of all ages. This Boise Valley Blues & Brew Festival will benefit the "Blues in the Schools" program.
WHAT IS BLUES IN THE SCHOOLS? The most effective BITS programs utilize a classroom curriculum that affects many students and disciplines. A comprehensive curriculum of one week to a month in length can address the main educational issues of the next century, inter discipline and diversity.

HOW CAN BLUES IN THE SCHOOLS FIT VARIOUS SUBJECTS? Subjects like Music, Art, English, and Social Studies are natural fits, while creative teachers can individually figure ways to tie Math, Science and Tech Ed to a BITS unit. Just a simple activity like designing a CD package enlists Art, English, and Music disciplines. When students plan out the touring itinerary for a band, they will utilize Math, Geography, and Language Arts skills in their planning of a month on the road. At the high school level, the in-depth study of the sharecropping system in the Mississippi Delta combines English, Social Studies, and Music to deliver a very crucial understanding of the relationship between these social and cultural factors in the birth of the blues. In 2005 Idahoans generously donated over $9.4 million for relief efforts for those national and international disasters. However, all of these dollars left the State of Idaho. The net effect of all of these funds leaving the State of Idaho has placed the Greater Idaho Chapter of the American Red Cross in a very perilous position. As a result of this loss of funding the American Red Cross of Greater Idaho has had to close offices, reduce staff, reduce health & safety classes, and reduce aid statewide.
The BVR Organization have built a long term partnership with the American Red Cross of Greater Idaho to bring to the valley an annual Ride for the Red Rally. All proceeds will go directly to the Disaster Services programs of the American Red Cross of Greater Idaho.
On June 24th at the Boise Hawks Stadium, in conjunction with the Northest BBQ Association we brought to the community a Motorcycle/Car Run, raffled off a brand new Harley Davidson 883 Sportser, family fun, live bands, other vendors. Families and event participants came and made a very successful inaugural year, by raising a total of $28,000 for the Idaho Red Cross Disaster Services. This is an annual event here in the valley so watch for more information about next years event at www.idahorideforthered.org.

The St. Luke's Women's Fitness Celebration is organized to inspire healthy attitudes in it's participants so that it reaches their families and their communities. The Celebration furthers this concept by adding St. Luke's mission of improving the health of people in the region. The Celebration has made a positive impact on the community of Boise and its surrounding area. With the increased awareness of health and fitness, the Celebration has allowed many women to start a path to a healthy lifestyle. The partnership between St. Luke's and the Celebration furthers this mission.
The BVR Organization and Snake River Yamaha were excited to embrace the opportunity to partner with St. Luke's Women's Fitness Celebration. So at the Celebration Women's show on Sept 22nd - 23rd 10am - 8pm, we will exposed the world of motorcycling to women of all ages. The celebration show offers an outlet to create a safe, inviting environment where women can experience a motorcycle, ask questions, talk to other women riders, gather safety information and explore their options as new potential riders or seasoned motorcycle enthusiasts with exposure to the empowerment of riding. Our on hand experience to riding, owning and passengering on motorcycles is complimented with professionals at Snake River Yamaha offering more awareness of education and knowledge.

The LadyBVR are a sisterhood that shares a sense of freedom to be experienced by all women whether it be riding their own motorcycle or being a passenger. Thrilled to be a part of the Women's Fitness Celebration team, they continue their support by also participating in the 5k women's event on the 24th 7am - 11am. and well being. The BVR/SRY both was very success and one of the event highlights, taking over 600 photos at our Women's photo booth.
